FUJITSU TAKAMISAWA AND FCI CROSS LICENSE HIGH-SPEED CONNECTOR LINE

SINGAPORE, - April 9, 2001 -- In a move to support industry development of high-speed data transfer applications, Fujitsu Takamisawa Component Limited (FTCL) and FCI USA Inc. today announced they have entered into a cross-license agreement for FCI to make and sell Fujitsu's FCN-260(D) MicroGiGaCNŽ differential connector.

This agreement positions FCI to become a second source for the high-speed connector series that was recently adopted as InfiniBand's standard I/O interface for 4x and 12x copper links. The device is also being considered as the standard interface for 10G FibreChannel's copper link.

The license agreement extends to the current MicroGiGaCN series mezzanine connector as well as products in the future expansion of the product line. Terms of the agreement will ensure that products from both sources are fully compatible and intermatable.

A cost-effective option to fiber optic and coaxial connectors, the MicroGiGaCN series maintains signal integrity up to 3.2Gigabits per second per link to address both entry-level and high-end communications systems.

"The goal of this agreement is to broaden the availability of this standard, high-speed interconnect from two compatible sources. FCI is a large, well-respected connector manufacturer with the proper sales and distribution channels for this product," said Don Dealtry, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Fujitsu Takamisawa America, Inc. "Increased industry access to the MicroGiGaCN for high-speed data and telecommunications applications will benefit both developers and users through improved price/performance, greater flexibility and scalability, and enhanced system reliability," he added.

"FCI is excited to be able to serve the Infiniband I/O needs and be in position with this technology to respond to other high-speed applications as they develop. The global marketplace will be well served by our joint efforts," said Steve Barber, project manager at FCI.

Fujitsu Takamisawa Asia Pacific markets and distributes electronic components throughout Asia and Australia. Products include relays, connectors, keyboards, input and pointing devices, and thermal printers. The company is headquartered at 102E Pasir Panjang Road, #04-01, Citilink Warehouse, Singapore 118529.
